1: CLEANING

Heavily Soiled
Using our MChem Multi Purpose Cleaner (1-5 parts dilution) or MClean in a spray bottle, apply cleaner to the oil, dirt or grease on your laminate floor. Wait 5 minutes and then wipe away with a damp cloth. DO NOT SATURATE. Buff the cleaned area with a dry cloth, removing any residue or streaks.

Maintenance cleaning.
Dilute MChem Multi Purpose Cleaner (1-100 parts) and apply to the laminate floor with a damp cloth. DO NOT SATURATE. Buff the cleaned area with a dry cloth, removing any residue or streaks.

2: LAMINATE TOOLS

The MTool range of laminate tools is all you need to lay a laminate floor. Detailed below is why specific products are essential for a successful installation.

DUST FREE CUT
Laminate cutter: If you want to avoid sawdust and electric noise; or if you do not have electricity, then use the MFloors Laminate Cutter. Limited to cutting laminates up to 11mm in thickness and with a maximum width of 210mm, it is ideal for the MFloors range.

ALLOW FOR EXPANSION
Plastic Wedges: The laminate floor is a floating floor and needs to be able to move. Plastic wedges are easy to use, ensuring that expansion gaps are kept against the walls and wherever expansion joints are necessary.

LEVEL FLOOR
Rubbing Stone, Spirit Level, Chisels, and Hammers: In order to successfully lay a laminate floor, the ground surface must be level; any high points, nails, cement, adhesive or uneven surfaces must be removed using the abovementioned tools. If you still have an uneven surface after removing all the visible unevenness, you will have to apply a self leveling super screed. Following the instructions on the super screed bag, you will be able to level the surface. DO NOT LAY LAMINATES ON AN UNEVEN FLOOR – this will more than likely result in failure.

WOODEN DOORS TO BE CUT
Undercut saw: Instead of removing a door or wooden fixture before you lay the laminate through the doorway, use the undercut saw to cut the door while it is still in place.

3: DAMP-PROOFING

Underlay:
It is essential to prevent damp from rising beneath the screed and getting to the laminate. A damp proof barrier in between the screed and the laminate offers the necessary protection. We provide two versions of the barrier - the two separate layer version is of a higher quality and will take slightly longer to lay.

4: FINISHES

Skirtings & Quadrants.

  • Skirtings or quadrants are essential to cover up the expansion gaps that are created against the walls.
  • Our easy to use push & pull clip system, allows for uneven walls, as well as hiding “remove and replace” wiring/cabling behind the skirting.
  • We have various types of skirtings and quadrants; from the inexpensive MDF range to the more expensive wood veneered range; suited to your personal taste and sense of quality.
